Mr. Ghulam Rasool is an expert and authority on International Law and Diplomacy in the country. He proceeded to UK after Law graduation. He passed his Master in Law in 1971 from University of London. He did Master in Law and Diplomacy from Fletcher School, USA, in 1989. His last appointment was Additional Secretary/Senior Consultant (BPS-21), Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Pakistan, Islamabad, where he served till 8th Nov. 2010. In the start of his carrier he joined Supreme Court of Pakistan as Research and Reference Officer, where he served from Dec. 1972 to Sept. 1973. He has been assisting the Hon’ble Judges of the apex Court in writing and finalizing the Judgments. His renowned legal work titled as “Repatriation of Prisoners of War” has been published in the journal titled ‘Pakistan Supreme Court, Quarterly, 1973’. Mr. Ghulam Rasool joined Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Assistant Legal Advisor in October, 1973. He was promoted to the position of Deputy Legal Advisor in March 1981. He assisted the Government of Pakistan in general and Ministry of Foreign Affairs in special on the matters concerning Public International Law.
Liaquat Ali Chaudhry
Mr. Liaquat Ali Chaudhry is an authority on Income Tax, Sales Tax, Customs, Banking Laws and an expert on laws dealing with White Collar crimes and Anti-money laundering. In addition to his Law Graduation, he has obtained M.Sc. degree in Botany in first position and was awarded Gold medal by the Punjab University, Lahore. In 1976 he joined Income Tax Group. His last assignment was Member, Income Tax Appellate Tribunal from July 2006 to June 2007. Earlier he served FBR as Secretary, Direct Taxes Administration, from September 1997 to October 1998 and also as Chief (Legal Wing). He has served as Director (Investigation) N.A.B., from January 2005 to June 2006. In this capacity he has been monitoring the investigation of fraud-cases in the public sector, e.g. O.G.D.C., P.S.O., T.C.P., C.A.A. and Pakistan Steel Mills, etc. He has performed as Director (Economic Crimes), F.I.A. Hdqrs, from August 2000 to November 2003, where he widely supervised the investigations into the Banks fraud cases. He also dealt fraud cases of Sales Tax, Customs, Income Tax and financial embezzlements. He has been the Member, Anti-Money Laundering Legislation Committee of Government of Pakistan in his capacity as Director, Financial Crimes, F.I.A., from June 2002 to November 2003. He actively participated in preparation of law on anti-money laundering. He has been advising the Government of Pakistan on steps to be taken to prevent money-laundering.
Muhammad Hussain Chaudhary
Mr. Hussain is an expert in matters relating to Labour, Employment and Industrial Relations. He joined National Industrial Relations Commission (N.I.R.C.) as its Deputy Registrar on 17th Nov. 1973, where he dealt issues concerning formation, registration and elections of the Industry-wise Trade Unions. He was appointed as Labour Attaché & Community Welfare Attaché in Embassy of Pakistan at U.A.E., on 21st June 1979. There-after he resumed back as Secretary, NIRC on 2nd July 1982. He was promoted as Registrar, N.I.R.C., on 30th May 1989, where he processed judicial cases, registration of Trade Unions and holding inquiries. He also held additional charge of Registrar, Implementation Tribunal for Newspapers Employees. He was elevated as Member, N.I.R.C., on 15th Jan. 2000, and adjudicated thousands of disputes raised by the workers, Unions and the Industrial Establishments. He also worked as Registrar of the Industry-Wise Trade Unions at national level in addition to his own duties. He was also declared as an Authority under Pakistan Essential Services (Maintenance) Act, 1952, to regulate the terms and conditions of service of such employees. Mr. Hussain was elevated as Senior Member of the Commission, thus, he used to perform all the functions of the Chairman, N.I.R.C. in his absence. Mr. Hussain, after being superannuated on 16th October, 2001, joined the legal profession as an Advocate High Court. He, being the most experienced judicial officer, is considered to be an authority on Labour, Industrial & Employment Laws in the country.
Naveed Aftab Ahmad
Mr. Naveed Aftab Ahmad, Advocate High Court, is an expert in corporate matters. He has over 40 years of experience in key roles across various levels in Civil Service and the Corporate Sector as a Member of the Federal Information Service of Pakistan and as a Director of PTC, a leading multinational which is a member of the British American Tobacco Group. He has the unique distinction of heading different departments in PTC including Legal, Corporate and Regulatory Affairs, Security & Business Development. He has represented the industry in various national and international forums. He has been Chairman of Cigarette Manufacturers’ Association of Pakistan and has also represented the industry in Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry Pakistan. Mr. Naveed possesses a Master’s Degree in Administrative Science in addition to the Law Degree. The canvas reflects a very successful and versatile experience in Legal, Corporate and Regulatory Affairs and Management. He has vast experience of handling labour, corporate and Industrial Disputes. He also provides strategic guidance and legal advice to the industry on various issues. He has been a Member of Global Environ Facility (GEF) National Steering Committee, Ministry of Climate Change, Government of Pakistan, Islamabad. He has represented the industry as member of the Ministry of Health Guidelines committee responsible for tobacco related regulations and has been closely working with government authorities particularly with Ministry of Finance and the Federal Board of Revenue on Excise and other taxation issues.
Muhammad Tauseef Akhlaq
Mr. Tauseef Akhlaq is an energetic and dedicated young associate of the Firm. He joined this firm after Law Graduation, from the University of Punjab, Lahore, in 2008. He has attended World Trade Organization, Environmental Law & Immigration Law courses. He has experience of working in Abn-Amro Bank. He has attended a sensitization workshop on Human Rights and UN convention against torture. He has also attended training workshop on ‘Human Rights for Legal Fraternity’. Mr. Tauseef has very special interest towards WTO, Immigration, Human Rights, Intellectual Property, Banking and Environmental Laws in addition to civil, criminal, constitutional and family Laws.
